The title of this post draws from a very popular question on the social media platform Quora. I will address this question as a Gemini ASCENDANT in Indian astrology (Jyotish) and as a Gemini sun sign in western astrology and as an ASTROLOGER!!!

Gemini are social people. Gemini is the sign of communication. Gemini people will have a very big social circle. So, the first reason Gemini is getting hated is that they are interacting with a lot of people. Now, the more you go out there, the more you are vulnerable in a world full of spite and ills. Contrast this to our homely Cancers, who will never get out into the world so much as to come into the public eye.

Add here the fact that Gemini are cerebral people. They are busy collecting and disseminating information. They are overthinking and analyzing ideas, which they are constantly thinking out loud! They can easily be misunderstood as gossip mongers. Now, this analysis of a Gemini cannot be further from the truth. Mercury, the ruler of Gemini is imagined as a child, as a prince in mythology. Mercury is a curious child trying to understand the world around them in a way that makes sense to him. Geminis are doing no different!

The dual behavior of Gemini creates another problem. It gives them two different sets of personalities and people struggle to understand them and their preferences! Then, they also change a lot and every few years a Gemini has a different set of ideas, philosophies, friends, hobbies, interests, romantic partners, you name it. They are so smart at anything they do, and that creates issues in itself! It becomes a struggle for them to not get bored with literally anything and move on! This creates a lot of instability in their own lives as well as the people around them. Some fixed influences in the horoscope can really help in pinning them down and creating a stable/fixed ground for them. Otherwise, Geminis are just moving way too fast for the rest of the world!

I also think it is important to address how Geminis are courageous people and yet their courage can get them into problems more often than not. If we take the solar chart or even the ascendant chart, Leo becomes the 3rd house for a Gemini, which is the house of courage. Leo and Sun’s influence can impart extraordinary courage to them to chart their own paths in a world full of people who are only following in the footsteps of the majority and the traditional! Despite their courage, they are not very aggressive and dominating. So, they end up attracting aggression from others and can get bullied easily! Just as children in real-world, Mercury, our astrological child is in any case more vulnerable to bullying than say a Leo or Sun-dominated personality. Leos carry an aura of royalty around them and people will respect them intuitively. This is sadly not true for a Gemini.
