The logic behind this statement is that malefic do not let the house they sit in get destroyed. So, while their presence does create some problems for the house, the house will not suffer as much as the houses aspected by the malefic. It is of utmost importance to remember that a malefic is not going to leave its nature and become benefic. The house will suffer some damages, but one malefic influence does not create affliction. So, Saturn sitting in the 7th house, for example, will cause delays in marriage, but it will also protect the house as that is the place where it is residing at the moment and has to take care of its own house.

However, the problem can get severe if there is another malefic influence on the house as well. Now, this Saturn will not protect the house it is sitting in. On the other hand, two malefic influences will cause an affliction and create tangible suffering and problems for the person. A benefic aspect might provide some relief in such a case.

Similarly, Jupiter, even though an inert planet, will never leave its benefic nature. The house Jupiter sits in will be in benefic influence and positive results will manifest with regard to the significations of the house. However, when it comes to the most fruitful results of the benefic influence of Jupiter, it will be the houses aspected that will show the maximum favorable results. Jupiter can never damage a house it sits in. That is just not the nature of Jupiter to damage. It is only secondary to the houses that Jupiter aspects in terms of benefic results.

However, beginners should also remember that sometimes Jupiter, by lordship might represent the dushtanas. In that case, some problems might become associated with the houses it is present in, more so in Jupiter’s dasha. And more prominently, if Jupiter is inimical to the Lagna lord of the chart. But that will by no means result in complete denial of benefic results of Jupiter for that house.
