When Saturn becomes retrograde, the significations of Saturn become deviated. All the results with regard to significations such as career, actions, etc. will manifest in the person’s life with a slight twist. Whether this will turn out to be good or bad for the overall chart will depend on the affliction or benefic influence the retrograde Saturn receives. A retrograde Saturn in Jupiter or Venus’s influence might give great results for the career of the person. However, if retrograde Saturn is with Rahu, there will be tangible suffering in their career, and even the significations of the house Saturn rules will likely suffer.
If a direct Saturn makes one hard-working, a retrograde Saturn makes one lazy. They become averse to manual labor. They might still be excellent in their jobs, do intellectual work, do smart work, but will not work hard manually, in the way a direct Saturn person will do. This is because retrograde planets are outside the influence of Sun, which is supposed to take care of all the planets performing their assigned duties. Once a planet gets too far from the Sun, they are free to act according to their will, without answering to any authority. Their final results are always different from the expected results.
Second, the career of the person with retrograde Saturn will be unstable for the first couple of years. If other indications of career in the chart are strong, favorable results will start showing after the Saturn return. The Saturn Return, which happens anytime between 28-32 years, will show the maximum instability in terms of career, might change location, and trigger a career change. This happens because each planet is designated a department to take care of. Once the planet becomes retrograde, there is no one to look after the significations of that planet. In this case, Saturn’s retrogression means there is no planet to look after the career department, which will go haywire without its caretaker doing its job.
Third, retrograde planets are never a good sign for health. While career might still be great, only following a deviated path, that will not be the case for the health of the person. Saturn signifies overall health, which might be weak, to begin with, considering other factors. In particular, Saturn signifies limbs and feet, and these organs can suffer, again more so in case of affliction. Also, retrograde Saturn will affect the circulation of the body and unstabilize the air element, the vaata as it is called in Ayurveda.
To sum up, Retrograde Saturn means a certain wait time for your career to stabilize and grow. Also, take care of your health.
